IBM and NVIDIA Unite to Secure the Future of Autonomous AI Agents
IBM is collaborating with NVIDIA to enhance the security and governance of AI agents through its Open Agent Safety Platform. This initiative combines NVIDIA's agent security architecture with IBM's capabilities in identity, credential management, infrastructure, storage, and hybrid cloud.
The increasing autonomy of AI agents poses new security challenges for enterprises. Agents can execute long-running tasks, access enterprise systems, use external tools, call other agents, and make decisions on behalf of users and organizations. To address these challenges, IBM is integrating its security and infrastructure products with NVIDIA's architecture.
NVIDIA's Open Agent Safety Platform includes NVIDIA Sentry, which uses NVIDIA DOCA running on NVIDIA BlueField-4 to verify agent identities, enforce access policies, and provide attested telemetry. IBM is also extending security into its data infrastructure by integrating NVIDIA BlueField-4 at the hardware level into IBM Fusion.
The collaboration aims to help enterprises make AI agent activity attributable, least-privileged, and auditable. This approach is particularly relevant as organizations move toward agentic AI systems capable of interacting with sensitive databases, enterprise applications, APIs, cloud infrastructure, and other autonomous agents without continuous human supervision.
