IBM and Sarvam Team Up for Sovereign AI in India

IBM and Sarvam have partnered to advance sovereign AI technologies for governments and regulated enterprises in India. The collaboration combines IBM's Sovereign Core with Sarvam's India-first AI stack, enabling organizations to move AI initiatives beyond experimentation into production.

The joint platform integrates IBM's Sovereign Core with Sarvam's reasoning models and multilingual voice technologies trained in India. This approach supports workloads such as citizen services, grievance redressal, document processing, and administrative workflows while aligning with India's regulatory requirements.

Sriram Raghavan, General Manager of IBM Software, India and Software Innovation Lab, emphasized the importance of giving organizations control over AI governance, deployment, and operation. He stated that sovereign AI is not just about where data is stored but also encompasses governance policies, operational visibility, deployment flexibility, and compliance requirements throughout the AI lifecycle.

The collaboration aims to help organizations operationalize sovereign AI and accelerate the journey from experimentation to production-scale outcomes. A joint demonstration and incubation facility will be established in Lucknow, where government departments, enterprises, and industry stakeholders can evaluate sovereign AI deployments before wider implementation.
