IBM and the Shift Away from Public Cloud AI Infrastructure
A new report from Futurum Research predicts that by 2030, 44% of AI infrastructure will run on hybrid and edge deployments, shifting control away from public cloud platforms. This trend is being driven by organizations' increasing desire for control over data residency and AI governance.
IBM is responding to this demand with a self-hosted deployment option for its agentic software development platform, IBM Bob. This will allow enterprises to deploy AI capabilities within their own private infrastructure, eliminating the need to transfer sensitive information to external services.
The company's General Manager of AI and Automation, Neel Sundaresan, says that 'the future of enterprise AI will depend on security, governance and sovereignty.'
