IBM Bob Goes Self-Hosted as JetBrains Air Brings Agentic Development to IDEs
IBM has announced that its agentic software development platform, IBM Bob, will be available for self-hosted deployment. This move allows organizations to bring AI software development capabilities directly to their on-premises environments, where they have control over data residency, security policies, and AI governance.
The self-hosted version of IBM Bob enables enterprises to deploy AI-powered software development and modernization capabilities in environments where sensitive code and regulated data reside. According to Neel Sundaresan, General Manager of AI and Automation at IBM, 'the future of enterprise AI will depend on security, governance, and sovereignty.'
Meanwhile, JetBrains has launched an early access program for its agentic development platform, JetBrains Air, which allows developers to bring their existing agents directly into the IDE. This integration provides built-in skills and tools that give supported agents access to specialized JetBrains expertise and workflows.
Qodo has also released version 3.0 of its quality control platform, which injects quality controls throughout the agentic software development lifecycle (SDLC). Qodo's Wisdom Base provides agents with a continuously updated understanding of an organization's codebase, standards, architecture, and pull request history.
