IBM Bolsters Financial Infrastructure with SWIFT Blockchain Integration
IBM has made significant strides in its digital asset infrastructure by introducing two key capabilities for tier-one financial institutions, governments, and regulated entities. The company announced a beta rollout of IBM Digital Asset Haven that enables clients to connect with SWIFT's blockchain-based shared ledger, linking over 12,500 financial institutions across more than 150 countries.
The new integration utilizes the ISO 20022 Messaging Adapter, allowing banks to process 24/7 tokenized deposit transactions using familiar messaging workflows. This move is seen as a strategic bridge between traditional core banking systems and tokenized finance.
IBM has also introduced an on-premises beta deployment option for Digital Asset Haven on IBM Z and LinuxONE servers, enabling institutions to orchestrate assets like stablecoins and tokenized deposits entirely within their private data centers.
The expansion of its software business is expected to strengthen IBM's position in global financial infrastructure. The company generated $7.8 billion in revenue from its growing software base during Q2 2026, with a 5% increase year-over-year.
