IBM Brings AI Capabilities Closer to Data with Bob Platform Deployment Options
IBM has announced that its AI software-development platform, IBM Bob, is now available for deployment on-premises, in private clouds, sovereign clouds, and even air-gapped environments. This move addresses a significant challenge in AI adoption: when data is too sensitive or regulated to be moved to an external AI service.
According to IBM's Institute for Business Value, 68% of surveyed executives found it challenging to meet data-residency and sovereignty requirements across geographies. To overcome this constraint, IBM has brought its AI capabilities closer to the data by allowing customers to deploy its Bob platform on their own infrastructure.
This shift is part of a broader trend in the industry, as companies move from experimenting with AI to deploying it at an enterprise scale. IBM's strategy aligns with this shift, and its new Bob offering supports hybrid configurations that include connections to external model services.
