IBM CEO Sees Quantum Computing Delivering Trillion-Dollar Value Within Decade
IBM CEO Arvind Krishna is pushing back against skeptics who believe quantum computing will take decades to deliver real business impact. He predicts that by 2028 or 2029, quantum computing will have a measurable effect on IBM's top and bottom lines.
In an interview with CNBC, Krishna said that he believes the technology has the potential to generate $1 trillion in value within the next decade.
IBM has been making progress toward real-world applications of quantum computing. The company recently announced plans for a standalone quantum chip foundry, backed by $1 billion from the U.S. Commerce Department and a matching $1 billion investment from IBM.
Krishna acknowledged that critics argue that quantum computing faces hurdles such as error rates and hardware complexity, but he countered that IBM is already making meaningful progress toward real-world applications.
