IBM Expands Bob Platform with On-Premises Deployment Option
IBM has expanded its agentic software development platform, Bob, to allow for on-premises deployment. This move enables organizations to use artificial intelligence to build and modernize applications within their own infrastructure.
The new self-hosted option supports environments such as on-premises, private-cloud, sovereign-cloud, and air-gapped settings. This is particularly useful for enterprises with sensitive source code or regulated data that cannot be hosted externally.
According to IBM's general manager of AI and automation, Neel Sundaresan, 'Organizations need AI that operates inside environments they have control over, especially when working with sensitive code and regulated data.'
The platform, Bob, assists developers in various aspects such as understanding applications, planning changes, carrying out development work, and validating results. It also allows for the extension of AI assistance to software delivery and modernization.
