IBM Expands Research Collaborations with IIT Bombay and IISc
IBM has expanded its research collaborations with Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Bombay and Indian Institute of Science (IISc), focusing on sovereign AI, agentic AI, quantum computing, and next-generation computing systems.
The IIT Bombay collaboration began in 2018, while the IISc partnership started in 2021. IBM researchers will continue to work with faculty and students to explore several key areas.
In the sovereign AI and Indic language model adaptation project, IBM aims to improve multilingual AI capabilities for Indian languages through more efficient model adaptation and optimization techniques.
The IISc collaboration includes agentic systems, which will focus on improving orchestration across hybrid cloud environments. Quantum computing is also a key area of research, with the goal of accelerating scientific discovery through more efficient quantum-centric supercomputing workflows and next-generation quantum-HPC algorithms.
