IBM Halts Ads on X Amid Controversy Over Hate Speech
Major tech companies are facing scrutiny over their advertising practices on social media platform X, formerly known as Twitter. In response to Elon Musk's promotion of an anti-Semitic conspiracy theory, IBM has announced that it will pause all its ad campaigns on the platform.
The company stated that it has 'zero tolerance for hate speech and discrimination' and is investigating the situation. This move comes after a report by Media Matters For America found that ads from major companies, including Apple and Oracle, were being served on pro-Nazi content on X.
This is not the first time that such incidents have occurred. A previous study by the same organization found that ads from prominent brands were being displayed alongside pro-Hitler, pro-Nazi content on X.
