IBM Lets Companies Host AI-Powered Development Platform Internally
IBM has introduced a new self-hosted model for its AI-powered software development platform, IBM Bob. This allows companies to deploy the tool on their own infrastructure, rather than relying on a cloud service.
The self-hosted model enables organizations to run the Bob backend on a Red Hat OpenShift cluster managed by themselves, while developers can continue to use the same Bob IDE and Bob Shell interfaces available in the cloud service.
This change is particularly relevant for companies that maintain proprietary code or regulated information in infrastructures that cannot be connected to public AI services. With the self-hosted model, organizations can keep processing within their own infrastructure and have control over data residency and access limits.
According to Neel Sundaresan, general manager of AI and Automation at IBM, the proprietary deployment aims to serve organizations that need to use AI in environments with greater control over security, compliance, and operation.
