IBM Links Digital Asset Haven to Swift's Blockchain Ledger in 17-Bank Pilot
IBM has expanded its Digital Asset Haven platform to connect financial institutions directly to Swift's blockchain-based shared ledger, allowing for tokenized deposit transactions. The integration uses standard ISO 20022 payment messaging formats and is part of a 17-bank pilot program that includes Citi, HSBC, UBS, BNY, and Wells Fargo.
The company also introduced an on-premises version of Digital Asset Haven that runs entirely on clients' own IBM Z or LinuxONE systems without relying on public cloud infrastructure. This setup keeps both the software and cryptographic key management within the bank's own environment.
IBM's announcements come as financial institutions move beyond blockchain experiments and begin building infrastructure for production use, with 93% of them modernizing their payments infrastructure, according to J.P. Morgan Payments.
