IBM Partners with THG to Bring Decentralized Identity Platform to Client Base
IBM and THG (The Hashgraph Group) have formed a global partnership to bring IDTrust, a decentralized self-sovereign identity platform, to IBM's client base. IDTrust is built on Hedera's distributed ledger technology and provides AI agents with verifiable credentials.
The listing of IDTrust on the IBM Cloud Catalog makes it one of the first commercial Hedera-powered enterprise applications available as a SaaS product through a major cloud marketplace. This partnership marks a significant milestone for THG, which has been working to bring its IDTrust platform to market.
According to Stefan Deiss, Co-Founder and CEO at THG, 'Enterprises are deploying AI agents at scale that can negotiate contracts, process sensitive data, and execute financial transactions autonomously. The question everyone is now asking and worried about is: how do I know this agent is authorised to act on my behalf? We have solved that problem with our IDTrust solution.'
IDTrust works by providing AI agents, devices, and humans with decentralized identifiers (DIDs) and verifiable credentials (VCs). The platform includes MCP servers that allow AI agents connected to IBM Watson X Orchestrate to obtain their own identity credentials.
