IBM Quantum Computer Completes Complex Task in Record Time
A team of researchers has successfully completed a complex computing task on IBM's Nighthawk r2 quantum processor in just 19 seconds. According to the study, this calculation would take a leading conventional supercomputer about 110 years.
The experiment used 61 qubits and put them through increasingly complex operations, generating one million results in under 20 seconds.
The researchers, led by Tigran Sedrakyan, used a method known as random-circuit sampling to demonstrate quantum advantage. This involves performing calculations that become extremely difficult for conventional computers to reproduce.
