IBM Quantum Foundry Subsidiary Secures $1B In CHIPS Funding
IBM's new quantum foundry subsidiary, Anderon LLC, has secured $1 billion in funding under the CHIPS and Science Act. The award will accelerate Anderon's research and development efforts to advance quantum wafer manufacturing in the United States.
Anderon was formed in May 2026 as part of a larger announcement in the quantum computing field. Mukesh Khare, general manager and vice president of IBM Semiconductors, has been named the new chief executive of Anderon. Jason Orcutt, senior manager and principal research scientist at IBM, is the new chief technology officer at Anderon.
The funding award will support Anderon's 300mm wafer fab, which offers specialized wafers supporting high-performance superconducting qubit arrays, quantum input/output signaling, and readout signal chain components. The company plans to expand to other quantum modalities in the future.
