IBM Stock Dips as Investors Digest Weaker Midyear Reset
IBM's stock price fell by 3.2% on September 18, 2026.
The decline is attributed to investors still digesting the company's weaker midyear reset, particularly the lower 2026 revenue-growth outlook and softer infrastructure trends.
This comes after IBM's second-quarter release in July lowered its full-year 2026 constant-currency revenue-growth outlook to a range of 4% to 5%, down from a prior expectation of more than 5%.
Segment revenue fell 7%, and IBM Z revenue dropped 42%, keeping attention on the durability of the mainframe cycle.
