IBM Stock Drops on $1 Billion Quantum Foundry Funding
IBM saw its stock fall by approximately 3.1% on Wednesday after it secured a $1 billion Commerce Department award for its subsidiary Anderon, which operates a quantum-wafer foundry in Albany, New York.
The funding will help IBM advance its quantum-manufacturing ambitions without placing the entire burden on the company itself.
Anderon is committed to manufacturing superconducting qubit arrays, quantum input-output signaling systems, and readout-chain components, with additional architectures expected to follow as the platform expands.
