International Business Machines (IBM) stock rose by 2% during mid-day trading on Wednesday, reaching as high as $238.62 and last trading at $237.3080.

The company's shares traded a total of 5,243,765, which is a decline of 35% from the average daily volume of 8,056,883 shares.

This price movement comes after IBM announced advancements in its quantum computing technology, including the development of a system with roughly 1,000 qubits by 2027 and the launch of IBM Quantum Starling, a planned fault-tolerant quantum computer, in 2029.

Analysts have been positive about IBM's prospects, retaining a 'Moderate Buy' view despite recent price-target reductions. The company has also expanded its channel partner coverage through Arrow Electronics, which could improve sales growth.
