IBM Stock Rises on Quantum Bets and Lunar AI Projects
International Business Machines Corporation (IBM) stock closed at $243.29 on September 11, 2026, rising 3.96 percent from its prior close of $234.02 due to investors' enthusiasm for fresh quantum computing and lunar artificial intelligence announcements.
The company highlighted two technology bets: a quantum computing expansion in Switzerland through an arrangement with ETH Zurich's quantum hub, and a new lunar AI foundation model developed with the National Aeronautics and Space Administration (NASA).
IBM will install Switzerland's first IBM Quantum System Two at the Swiss National Supercomputing Centre in Lugano by the end of 2026.
The stock has shown signs of stabilization despite being nearly 30 percent below its 52-week high of $332.46 reached earlier in 2026.
