IBM Stock Surges on Self-Hosted AI Platform Launch
International Business Machines (IBM) stock surged 3.9% in pre-open trading following the company's announcement of self-hosted deployment capabilities for its Bob agentic AI software development platform.
The new feature allows enterprises to run AI-driven software development and modernization workflows within their own controlled infrastructure, including on-premises, private-cloud, sovereign-cloud, and air-gapped environments.
This move targets a large segment of the enterprise market that has been unable to adopt cloud-native AI development tools due to strict data residency, compliance, and security requirements.
IBM's GM of AI and Automation, Neel Sundaresan, stated that 'the future of enterprise AI will depend on security, governance and sovereignty,' framing the self-hosted Bob launch as a foundational step in making agentic AI accessible to regulated industries.
