Anderon, an IBM subsidiary, has finalized its agreement with the U.S. Department of Commerce for a $1 billion CHIPS Award to accelerate R&D for U.S.-based pure-play quantum foundry.

The funding will help Anderon scale and expand access to quantum wafer technology, advancing the nation's quantum manufacturing capabilities. The award follows an initial letter of intent between IBM and the Department in May, with Anderon operating a state-of-the-art 300-millimeter pure-play quantum wafer foundry.

Anderon CEO Mukesh Khare stated that the agreement strengthens their ability to deliver manufacturing scale the quantum industry needs. 'We're building a foundation that will let quantum move from research breakthroughs to real-world impact,' he said.
