IBM Taps SWIFT Ledger to Expand Digital Asset Haven Capabilities
IBM has expanded its Digital Asset Haven capabilities by integrating with SWIFT's blockchain-powered shared ledger. This move enables regulated entities to securely manage and settle digital assets across public and private blockchains.
The IBM Digital Asset Haven is a unified operating platform built on Dfns' wallet-as-a-service infrastructure. It connects over 12,500 financial institutions worldwide, allowing users to instruct tokenized deposit transactions through the ledger using standard ISO 20022 messages.
This integration unlocks bank-issued tokenized deposits and digital asset transfers 24/7, protected by established SWIFT standards and banks' strict compliance processes. Users can configure operational workflows to synchronize with their internal controls, treasuries, and processes.
Tom McPherson, General Manager of IBM Z and LinuxONE, highlighted that the financial services sector is rapidly transitioning into an era where tokenization and traditional assets intersect. He emphasized that expanding the Digital Asset Haven into the SWIFT ecosystem helps clients participate in emerging digital asset networks while prioritizing control over their critical operations.
