IBM has formed a strategic partnership with OpenAI to help large enterprises deploy artificial intelligence (AI) across various departments, including finance, procurement, and customer service. The deal embeds OpenAI's frontier models into IBM Consulting Advantage, its AI delivery platform for clients.

The collaboration will also strengthen cybersecurity defenses by integrating OpenAI's AI capabilities with IBM Autonomous Security. As part of the agreement, IBM will launch a dedicated OpenAI Practice, training tens of thousands of consultants on OpenAI's technologies and forming specialized 'Forward Deployed Expert' teams.

IBM joins OpenAI's Elite partner tier as part of the deal, expanding their existing cybersecurity collaboration and recent enterprise partnerships with global consulting firms such as Infosys and Tata Consultancy Services.
