IBM Teams with Marist University on Mainframe Development
IBM, the hybrid cloud, AI and mainframe company, has partnered with Marist University to develop and test applications on its z17 mainframe. The university's new Innovation Incubator will serve as a hub for students and faculty to experiment with IBM's technology.
The collaboration marks an effort by IBM to foster familiarity with its mainframe systems among future developers. By providing the machine for research purposes, IBM aims to cultivate a pipeline of talent that can help drive adoption in the enterprise sector.
At Marist University, researchers plan to explore AI applications in polling and autonomous marketing agents. Additionally, they are working on a project utilizing quantum optimization to build portfolio allocations.
The z17 mainframe, valued at $236.55 per share as of Wednesday morning, saw a 2.2% increase from the previous day's close. However, this gain still leaves IBM shares about 2.59% below its estimated value of $242.84.
