IBM Unites Digital Asset Haven with Swift's Blockchain Ledger for Tokenized Deposits
IBM has integrated its Digital Asset Haven platform with Swift's blockchain-based shared ledger to enable tokenized deposits for banks. This integration allows institutions to instruct tokenized deposit transactions on Swift's ledger using standard payment messages, rather than building separate blockchain-specific workflows.
The beta ISO 20022 messaging adapter enables financial institutions to send instructions through a messaging standard already used across global payments, reducing the operational barrier to using blockchain infrastructure. This could enable banks to experiment with 24/7 tokenized payments without rebuilding surrounding workflow or abandoning payment messages.
Swift's ledger allows participating banks to move digital assets around the clock, but final settlement still takes place through existing banking infrastructure. IBM is also expanding Digital Asset Haven with an on-premises beta deployment for institutions that do not want critical digital asset infrastructure dependent on a public cloud environment.
