IBM Unveils Digital Asset Haven with SWIFT Shared Ledger Technology
IBM has launched Digital Asset Haven, a new platform that allows for the creation and transfer of bank-issued tokenized deposits. This innovation is built on top of SWIFT's Shared Ledger (Beta) technology.
The system enables banks to create digital tokens representing real-time deposit accounts, which can then be transferred between institutions 24/7. These transactions are facilitated through ISO 20022 messages and can be settled via RTGS (Real-Time Gross Settlement) systems or existing networks.
This is not a replacement for current systems but rather an additional layer on top of them. IBM has partnered with 17 banks to pilot this technology, which aims to simplify cross-border transactions and improve efficiency in the financial sector.
