IBM Unveils Groundbreaking Processor for Mainframes and Servers
IBM is developing a revolutionary dual-architecture processor that will allow its mainframes and servers to run software built for Arm chips, expanding the capabilities of its existing platforms.
The new processor, built on a 2 nanometer technology node, features 11+ cores at over 5.7 GHz, AI inference accelerators, an on-chip data processing unit for I/O acceleration, and large caches to support demanding enterprise workloads.
This innovative design will enable Arm-native Linux environments to run alongside z/OS and Linux on IBM Z, opening up new possibilities for software developers and users.
