IBM Unveils Self-Hosted Bob AI Deployment Option for Enterprises
IBM has released a self-hosted deployment option for its Bob AI development platform. This move is aimed at enterprises with security and compliance requirements that restrict the use of public artificial intelligence platforms.
The new feature allows customers to run supported AI models on-premises, including within air-gapped environments, using models they have licensed. Alternatively, IBM Bob can connect to external model services through hybrid configurations.
According to Neel Sundaresan, general manager of AI and Automation at IBM, organizations need AI that operates inside environments they have control over, especially when working with sensitive code and regulated data.
The self-hosted deployment is a response to the challenges faced by enterprises in meeting data residency and sovereignty requirements. A report from IBM's Institute for Business Value found that 68% of surveyed executives said meeting these requirements was challenging.
