India Economy to Nearly Triple in a Decade: JPMorgan's Dimon
JPMorgan Chase CEO Jamie Dimon predicts India's economy could nearly triple in size over the next decade, driven by rapid expansion of his company's operations. He noted that since he first visited India in 2005, JPMorgan has grown from a staff of 6,000 to 60,000 professionals across various technical areas and investment banking.
Currently, the US-based bank covers nearly 200 Indian companies through its research operations and works with multinational corporations and Indian companies looking to expand overseas. Dimon emphasized the importance of consistency in trade and investment rules, urging New Delhi and Washington to finalize a trade agreement, stating 'I would like to see it finished.'
Dimon also highlighted several global economic threats, including persistent inflation, elevated government borrowing, geopolitical tensions, and rising demand for capital. He predicted that interest rates and bond yields could remain higher for longer due to factors such as artificial intelligence-related infrastructure and remilitarization.
