India Reaffirms Support for Two-State Solution in Palestine
Sripriya Ranganathan, India's Secretary (Consular, Passport and Visa and Overseas Indian Affairs), reiterated the country's support for a negotiated two-state solution in Palestine during her visit to Egypt, Palestine, and Lebanon. She met with Varsen Aghabekian Shahin, Minister of Foreign Affairs and Expatriates of Palestine, and discussed various aspects of India-Palestine relations.
Ranganathan conveyed India's concern over the humanitarian situation in Gaza and emphasized the importance of addressing it through sustained humanitarian assistance and continued dialogue and diplomacy. The two sides also reviewed the full spectrum of India-Palestine bilateral relations, including development cooperation initiatives.
India has consistently supported a vision of a 'two-state' solution with Israel and Palestine living side by side in peace and security within recognized borders, consistent with international law. Ranganathan reaffirmed India's support for efforts towards peace and stability, as well as a lasting political resolution of the conflict through dialogue and diplomacy.
The meeting also highlighted ongoing initiatives between India and Palestine, including health, education, and capacity-building programs. The Palestinian Foreign Minister expressed appreciation for India's continued support through development projects, scholarships, humanitarian assistance, and contributions to Palestinian institutions and UN agencies.
