Indian Engineer Becomes US Citizen After Navigating Immigration Hurdles
Shetty, an Indian engineer, achieved his dream of becoming a US citizen after navigating years of uncertainty in the immigration process. He had to overcome various hurdles, including visa issues and financial pressure, to build a career in the competitive technology industry.
After completing his engineering degree from Visvesvaraya Technological University in 2013, Shetty moved to the United States for further education. He enrolled at Arizona State University for a master's degree in electrical engineering and later worked with companies like Tesla and Lyft.
When Shetty failed to secure an H-1B visa through the lottery system, he opted for the EB-1A route, which allows individuals to file their own petitions by proving they meet specific criteria. This decision gave him freedom, stability, and a mission, according to his post.
However, Shetty faced another challenge when his immigration platform was reported to US immigration authorities, leading to a USCIS complaint. The investigation found no wrongdoing, and the matter was closed in his favor.
