Indian Research Institutions Partner with IBM on Cutting-Edge Computing
India's premier research institutions, IIT Bombay and IISc, have partnered with IBM to accelerate innovation in agentic AI, sovereign AI, quantum computing, and next-generation computing systems. This expanded collaboration builds on a relationship with IIT Bombay established in 2018.
The partnership aims to advance sovereign AI and Indic language models for Indian languages through efficient model adaptation and optimisation tools. IBM researchers will work alongside faculty and students to study sovereign and Indic language model adaptation, multimodal AI, and AI infrastructure and knowledge retrieval.
IISc's collaboration with IBM will explore agentic systems, AI for applications, and quantum computing algorithm development. The partnership aims to develop agentic AI workflows that would improve orchestration across hybrid cloud environments and create lightweight time-series foundation models specifically for energy analytics.
