India's AI Adoption Faces Infrastructure Bottlenecks, Says Cisco Executive
Cisco India & South Asia President Daisy Chittilapilly says enterprises are moving beyond AI experimentation to production, but face infrastructure bottlenecks.
The three-layered problem includes infrastructure - power, compute, and networking - data quality, and security.India is expected to need 8GW of data centre capacity by 2030 with $70 billion in infrastructure investment by 2026. Only 32% of organisations integrate AI into their security frameworks, and just 45% feel equipped to control and secure agents.
Cisco has spoken about an AI-driven networking supercycle, driven by agentic AI that generates 450% more network traffic than human work. Chittilapilly notes that networks cannot run tomorrow's AI on yesterday's infrastructure and that security must be built into the AI lifecycle from the start.
