Industrials Sector Underperforms Market, But Some Stocks Shine Amid Volatility
The industrials sector has underperformed the market over the past six months, lagging behind the S&P 500 by 10.6 percentage points with a 2.3% return.
Despite this lackluster performance, some industrials stocks have managed to produce earnings growth despite volatile macroeconomic factors.
Two stocks in this sector that may struggle are Sherwin-Williams (SHW) and Installed Building Products (IBP).
Sherwin-Williams has a large revenue base, which makes it harder for the company to increase sales quickly. Its annual revenue growth of 3% over the last two years was below the standards for the industrials sector.
Installed Building Products also struggled with muted 1.8% annual revenue growth over the last two years and a projected sales growth of only 3.3% for the next 12 months.
On the other hand, EnerSys (ENS) is a resilient industrials stock that has demonstrated its ability to scale efficiently with an operating margin improvement of 7.3 percentage points over the last five years.
