Infleqtion, Cisco Unveil Quantum Network Ambitions
Infleqtion and Cisco have partnered to build early quantum networks, shifting focus from increasing the size of individual quantum computers to connecting them. This collaboration aims to scale quantum capabilities beyond isolated machines by linking Infleqtion's neutral-atom quantum computers with Cisco's networking technology.
The joint effort will explore architectures for distributed quantum systems, a critical step toward realizing a practical quantum internet. Infleqtion's 1,600-qubit neutral-atom lattice boasts 99.73% gate fidelity and will be a central component in the collaboration.
Cisco is developing an end-to-end quantum networking stack designed to dynamically distribute quantum entanglement across connected devices on demand. This includes specialized quantum hardware and software intended to manage connections between quantum processors, memory, and sensors for reliable information transfer.
