Institutional Buyers Flood In as Baillie Gifford Boosts Alphabet Stake
Baillie Gifford's stake in Alphabet grew by 44% in Q2 2026, as the Edinburgh-based manager bought 862,000 shares in Google's owner.
The purchase was part of a wave of institutional buying from some of the world's most-watched investment names, including Berkshire Hathaway and Stanley Druckenmiller's Duquesne Family Office.
Berkshire Hathaway increased its Alphabet holding by 45% to 78.79 million shares, while its Class C position grew more than sevenfold in Q2 2026, according to data tracked by Hedge Fund Alpha.
The institutional interest reflects a view that Alphabet is priced conservatively relative to its breadth, with the company spanning search, cloud computing, AI infrastructure, video streaming via YouTube, and autonomous vehicles through Waymo.
