Ireland Fines Google $463 Million for Location Data Missteps

Ireland's Data Protection Commission has fined Alphabet Inc.'s Google €403 million for breaching location data rules. The fine is the result of complaints from European consumer rights organizations, who claimed that Google was processing location data improperly in web and app activity, as well as location history.

The commission stated that Google infringed on multiple rules, including those regarding the handling of user location data.
