Israel Expands Long-Range Air Capabilities with Second KC-46 Tanker Arrival
Israel has bolstered its aerial refueling capabilities by receiving the second of six Boeing KC-46 tankers, replacing its aging Boeing 707 fleet. The aircraft, known as the 'Gideon', arrived at Nevatim Airbase in southern Israel after traveling from the United States on August 26.
The KC-46 is designed to provide extended range and endurance for Israel's fighter jets by allowing them to refuel mid-air. This capability significantly enhances the Air Force's flexibility for operations across multiple fronts, particularly in distant theaters.
Israel ordered six KC-46s in total, with the new aircraft set to replace the existing fleet of Boeing 707 refueling planes that have been in service for decades.
