'It's a Small World' at Walt Disney World Needs Attention Amid Visible Maintenance Issues

At Walt Disney World's Magic Kingdom, one of the most iconic attractions is showing signs of wear. 'It's a Small World' has been in operation for decades and remains a beloved experience for guests. However, recent maintenance issues have become noticeable around the ride.

The problems aren't limited to one small section of the attraction. Guests can see wrinkled material near the base of the white-and-gold mural, visible marks on the white paint around the bridge area, and grime collected underneath a gold-colored metal beam in the queue. Once guests board their boats, they'll notice dark lines developed around areas where the facade meets the water, peeling surfaces, and burned-out light bulbs.

While these issues don't fundamentally change the experience, presentation matters on a ride like 'It's a Small World.' The scenery is the main attraction, with guests slowly traveling through colorful environments filled with figures, elaborate sets, lighting, and small details. Maintenance problems can become particularly noticeable due to the slower pace.

Disney has not announced any refurbishment or closure for the attraction, but it's clear that some attention is needed. A focused refurbishment could involve cleaning up the waterline, repairing peeling sections, addressing paint problems, replacing burned-out bulbs, restoring missing figures, and giving aging set pieces some additional attention.
