Japanese Insurer Daiichi Takes $5M Stake in Travelers Companies
Daiichi Life Insurance Co. Ltd., a Japanese life insurance company, has taken a significant position in The Travelers Companies, Inc. (NYSE: TRV), according to its latest 13F filing with the Securities & Exchange Commission.
The company purchased approximately 23,930 shares of TRV's stock during the second quarter, valued at around $5.28 million. This investment represents a new stake in the insurance provider's stock.
This is not an isolated instance, as several other institutional investors and hedge funds have also increased their stakes in TRV over the past few quarters. Brighton Jones LLC, for example, lifted its position by 13.4% during the fourth quarter, while CIBC Asset Management Inc. boosted its stake by 13.9% in the second quarter.
TRV's recent quarterly earnings report showed a beating of analysts' consensus estimates, with $10.04 earnings per share and revenue of $12.15 billion. The company's underwriting discipline was praised, leading to an increase in its stock price.
