Jets Injury Woes Continue as Key Players Remain Sidelined
The New York Jets are dealing with several injuries ahead of their Week 2 matchup against the Green Bay Packers. Safety Minkah Fitzpatrick, wide receiver Omar Cooper Jr., running back Kene Nwangwu, and edge rusher Joseph Ossai all missed practice again on Thursday, making it two consecutive days they've sat out.
Coach Aaron Glenn described the four players as week-to-week, but emphasized that none of them are currently considered candidates for injured reserve. Fitzpatrick's groin injury is a particular concern, and Glenn mentioned Andre Cisco and Dane Belton as capable replacements if he's unable to play.
On the positive side, cornerback D'Angelo Ponds and linebacker Jamien Sherwood were upgraded from limited participants on Wednesday to full participants Thursday. Cornerback Jarvis Brownlee Jr. also had a second consecutive day of full participation, while defensive lineman David Onyemata returned as a full participant after receiving a veteran rest day.
The Jets will practice again Friday, when the final injury report and game designations should provide a clearer picture of who will be available against the Packers.
