Jets Safety Minkah Fitzpatrick and Rookie WR Omar Cooper Jr. Dealing with Injuries
New York Jets safety Minkah Fitzpatrick and rookie wide receiver Omar Cooper Jr. are both dealing with injuries that will keep them sidelined for the time being, coach Aaron Glenn announced on Wednesday.
Fitzpatrick suffered a groin injury early in the team's season-opening win against the Tennessee Titans last Sunday, while Cooper left the game with an ankle injury after his 30-yard catch-and-run on the Jets' opening touchdown drive.
Glen described both players as 'week to week,' indicating that they will be evaluated on a weekly basis to determine their availability for future games.
Glenn also mentioned that edge rusher Joseph Ossai and running back/kick returner Kene Nwangwu, who sat out against the Titans, are also being evaluated on a week-to-week basis. Ossai is getting close to returning after suffering a ruptured plantar fascia in his left foot during the preseason finale against the Giants on August 28.
To address the void left by Fitzpatrick and Cooper, Dane Belton and Andre Cisco will see playing time. Both players filled in after Fitzpatrick and another cornerback went out with injuries last week.
