Jobs Report Sparks Rally as Rate Hike Pressure Eases
The US stock market experienced a surprising surge on Friday after the release of a report showing that employers unexpectedly cut 23,000 jobs last month. The S&P 500 rose 0.5% and is hovering around its record high set earlier in the week.
The Dow Jones Industrial Average rose 80 points, or 0.2%, while the Nasdaq composite jumped 1%. Technology stocks led the charge, with Nvidia increasing by 1.4% and Broadcom rising by 1%
The weaker jobs market data may ease pressure on the Federal Reserve to raise interest rates in September, which has been a major concern for Wall Street.
However, experts warn that a weakening jobs market could become even shakier under higher interest rates as businesses find it more difficult to expand under increased borrowing costs.
