Joe Rohde Brings Disney Magic to New York City Immersive Theater
Disney legend Joe Rohde is set to discuss his career and new memoir at an immersive theater experience in New York City. The event, Masquerade, is based on Andrew Lloyd Webber's Phantom of the Opera and opened in September 2025.
Rohde will be speaking after the evening's performance on September 9, promoting his book Floating Mountains: The Art of Imagining the Impossible. This appearance is part of a larger book tour that includes events at Disney parks and conventions like D23.
Masquerade and Rohde's work as a Walt Disney Imagineer may seem unrelated at first glance, but both involve creating immersive experiences for audiences. Having Rohde at Masquerade could attract fans of his work to the show, while attendees might also gain insight into the theme park design process.
Rohde is best known for his work on Disney's Animal Kingdom and Pandora - World of Avatar, and is currently consulting on the upcoming Tropical Americas land. Tickets to see Rohde at Masquerade include a copy of his book and can be purchased online.
