JPMorgan Chase Employee Sues Boss Over Homophobic Comments
A former JPMorgan Chase employee has filed a lawsuit against his then-boss for making disparaging comments about his sexual orientation. Brian Larson, a senior associate in the bank's rotational Chase Associate Program, claimed that his boss, Peter Bergman, repeatedly made homophobic remarks and told him to 'separate your gay job from your day job.'
Larson took on a leadership role in the bank's Pride employee group in 2022, which allegedly upset Bergman. When Larson asked if his work was suffering as a result of his involvement with the group, Bergman replied, 'Your work is not suffering now, but I could see it happening.'
The lawsuit alleges that Bergman's comments pushed Larson into depression, anxiety attacks, and a resurgence of his stress-induced hair-pulling disorder. JPMorgan Chase has denied the allegations, stating that they took them seriously but found no evidence to support them.
