JPMorgan Chase Loses M&A Head as Leadership Shakeup Continues
JPMorgan Chase is undergoing significant changes in its leadership ranks, with Hernan Cristerna, global co-head of M&A, announcing his retirement after more than 30 years at the bank. Cristerna oversaw several high-profile mergers and acquisitions during his tenure, including InBev's acquisition of Anheuser-Busch in 2008 and Saudi Aramco's purchase of SABIC in 2019.
In a memo to employees, Filippo Gori and John Simmons, co-heads of global banking at JPMC, praised Cristerna for his leadership and mentorship, stating that he has had a lasting impact across the firm. As Cristerna departs, Mark O'Donovan takes over as head of human resources, relocating from London to New York.
JPMorgan Chase is also undergoing succession planning for its CEO, Jamie Dimon, with sources indicating that Dimon will remain in post for up to three more years while actively seeking a successor. Additionally, the bank has appointed Doug Petno and Troy Rohrbaugh as co-presidents and Michael Flynn as head of small-cap investment banking.
