JPMorgan Employee Sues Bank Over Alleged Gay Job Harassment
A former employee of JPMorgan Chase has filed a lawsuit against the bank alleging harassment and discrimination based on his sexual orientation. Brian Larson, who worked as a senior associate in the bank's Chase Associate Program, claimed that his supervisor, Peter Bergman, told him to 'separate [his] gay job from [his] day job' after he raised concerns about the amount of time Larson was spending on Pride-related work.
Larson alleged that Bergman's comments were part of a pattern of harassment and intimidation, which included increased scrutiny of his work and warnings that his involvement in diversity, equity, and inclusion (DEI) initiatives would not protect him from being fired.
The lawsuit claimed that Larson was eventually forced to resign after HR told him that he had failed to secure a permanent role within the company. JPMorgan has denied the allegations, stating that an internal investigation found no evidence to support Larson's claims.
