JPMorgan Chase's stock rose 0.7% on Wednesday morning as the bank's strategy team increased its target for the S&P 500 to 8,000 by the end of 2026, up from a previous estimate of 7,800. The bank believes this rally does not need to rely solely on hype and higher valuations, citing exploding AI spending, accelerating cloud growth, and rising corporate profits as evidence.

JPMorgan lifted its 2026 S&P 500 earnings forecast to $365 per share from $350 and increased its 2027 estimate to $420 from $390. The bank attributes this optimism to stronger cloud demand, bigger AI backlogs, and growing evidence that hyperscalers are finally turning enormous AI infrastructure budgets into actual revenue.

Earnings season has been delivering, with 85.1% of the 436 S&P 500 companies that had reported through the previous Friday beating earnings expectations, according to LSEG data cited by Reuters. JPMorgan's own valuation indicates that the stock is roughly 17% above its GF Value of $311.77.
