JPMorgan Sets 8,000 S&P 500 Target for Year-End 2026 on AI Growth
JPMorgan has revised its S&P 500 target for year-end 2026 to 8,000, up from 7,800. The bank attributes this increase to stronger corporate earnings and growing evidence that AI spending is translating into business growth.
The second-quarter results have shown broad improvements across sectors, with 87% of S&P 500 companies reporting. JPMorgan has lifted its 2026 earnings-per-share forecast to $365, representing a 35% annual increase above the previous estimate and the consensus of $358.
JPMorgan also increased its 2027 EPS projection to $420, indicating a 15% growth rate. However, the bank maintained its valuation assumption near 20 times forward earnings due to concerns over elevated interest rates, geopolitical risks, and continued equity and debt issuance.
