JPMorgan Sued Over Alleged Racism, Sexual Abuse Claims by Former Executive
A former JPMorgan Chase executive has filed a federal lawsuit against the bank and three senior executives, alleging racial discrimination, sexual abuse, and retaliation.
The complaint, filed on July 27, 2026, in the United States District Court for the Southern District of New York, names JPMorgan Chase & Co., Executive Director Lorna Hajdini, and Managing Directors Brandon Graffeo and Jon Wolter as defendants.
The lawsuit alleges that Chirayu Rana, a former executive on the bank's Leveraged Finance team, faced systemic hostility due to his identity as the team's only non-white, non-Christian banker.
Rana claims that he was subjected to racist slurs and unwanted sexual conduct by supervisors, including Executive Director Lorna Hajdini, who allegedly abused her supervisory authority to coerce him into unwanted interactions.
The complaint also alleges that JPMorgan failed to investigate racial threats received by Rana and his family, despite repeated requests from him and his attorneys.
Rana is seeking back pay, front pay, lost benefits, compensatory and punitive damages, equitable relief, and attorneys' fees in the lawsuit, which represents a significant escalation in legal action against the bank.
